About the author

J. Alex Giguere

My name is alex giguere

and I am an Epic Fantasy writer.

My interest in writing fantasy started from a young age by being introduced to Lord of the Rings by my step father, and then soon after, by being introduced to The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by my dad.

I spent time writing stories as a child and into my teen years. Though my writing at that age was not very good, my dad always praised what I wrote which brought me great encouragement. The stories I wrote and the ones that jumbled in my mind were always in the epic fantasy setting. At times I enjoyed reading novels with different settings and I have always been a fan of a variety of movies, but it was the grand fantasy setting where my excitement and imagination truly flourished.

Though I enjoyed fantasy and writing, it was never presented to me as being a viable career, so I pursued college and received a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Liberty University, as well as an MBA with a focus in Leadership from Liberty University.

Married Life…

I married my wife, Brooke, when I was only 21 and she 19. While writing was still something I wanted to pursue, it was placed to the side while I focused on being a new husband, finished school, and started working on my career to prepare for raising a family.

In my twenties, I started several writing projects, but being filled with doubt as to my skill as a writer, I would take long breaks in between. This was a period in my life when I should have spent much more time pursuing what I loved instead of having the fear of failure.

Our Family…

Brooke and I had our daughter, Evolette (Evvie), when I was nearly 27. Of course, this made life even busier, in a great way, but my writing seemed once again to take last place in line. Life was made even more hectic with the addition of our son, Ezekiel (Zeke).

It wasn’t until my family moved from Maine — where I am from — to North Carolina that my perspective on what I wanted my life to be really changed and then solidified.

Adjusting my priorities

Taking simple steps like regular physical exercise, eating healthy (most of the time), cutting back on or fully from social media, spending quality time with my children and wife, and being alive in my faith all attributed to my return to writing. What amazed me is that by placing my physical, mental, and spiritual health and my family as a priority, writing automatically made its way as its own priority because everything else was now in line.

Now to the writing.

As stated before, I’ve worked on several writing projects through the years. Now with my plans set for what I want to do with my writing career, my writing has really taken off and I desire to share with the world — well, at least fantasy fans — my own worlds, stories, and characters that I’ve created, all within an epic fantasy setting.
